Pastefrog on iPhone and iPad

Use the app, optional keyboard, or share sheet to move a copy between your devices. On iOS and iPadOS, opening Pastefrog is part of the clipboard workflow.

Install and link your iPhone or iPad

Install Pastefrog from the App Store using the download page. Open the app and sign in with Google or an email code. Every plan needs an account, including Free.

Save the recovery key shown after your first sign-in. If you are linking with a computer, your phone scans the QR code on that computer. This direction stays the same when you started on the computer first: the computer shows the code and the phone scans it.

Follow the app’s linking and permission prompts. If no linked device is available, use an email code and your recovery key. Pastefrog saves and syncs nothing until sign-in and linking are complete.

Send a copy with the app or keyboard

  1. Copy a short note or link with the source app’s normal Copy command.
  2. Open the Pastefrog app, or bring up the Pastefrog keyboard if you have enabled it.
  3. Allow the paste access you intended if iOS shows a clipboard permission prompt.
  4. On another linked, online device, focus a text field and paste.

An iOS keyboard runs only while it is on screen. It reads a new copy when it next opens, not when you copy while the keyboard is closed. Leaving both the app and keyboard closed does not give Pastefrog a chance to capture that copy.

The keyboard is optional. Follow Pastefrog’s setup instructions if you want to enable it, including the access it needs to connect. You can keep using your existing keyboard and send content through the app or share sheet.

Use the share sheet without switching keyboards

When the source app offers Share, open its share sheet and choose Pastefrog. This passes the content you selected to Pastefrog without depending on the keyboard reading a new clipboard copy.

The content an app offers to Share can differ from what its Copy command provides. Check the shared content, then use a destination that accepts its type. A short shared link is a useful first test.

Use the share sheet when you already have the content open. Use Copy followed by opening Pastefrog when the source app gives you a Copy command instead.

Use a clip that arrives from another device

Open Pastefrog on your iPhone or iPad to reconnect and check the incoming copy. Select the clip you want, use Copy, then return to a field in the destination app and paste.

iOS does not guarantee a background download after a push notification. If a copy has not appeared while Pastefrog is closed, open the app before testing again. An incoming clip and the destination app’s ability to accept it are separate checks.

For the computer side of the workflow, follow the Mac, Windows, or Linux guide. On Free and Sync, each image and each file can be up to 25 MB.

Read a selected clip, copy it, and paste it into another app.

Find an older copy and keep it handy

Free keeps your latest clip across 2 devices. Sync costs $10 once and keeps the latest clip across 5 devices. Each new copy replaces the previous current clip, and reconnecting devices receive only the current one.

Pro costs $1.99 a month and includes 25 GB of encrypted history across 10 devices while active. Search for a word from an earlier copy, open a result, and copy it to reuse it. Search and image text recognition run on the device.

For a clip you use often, open its actions and choose Pin. Find it again in Pinned. Pro also includes snippets for reusable text. Pins and snippets are part of paid history, so export anything you need before Pro ends.

When your phone reconnects on Pro, it also receives every missed clip in history. Your latest clip remains separate. Read the history guide for restore and retention details.

Keep frequently used clips in the Pinned view with Pro.

Check a copy that did not arrive

  1. Give Pastefrog access. Copy a new short note and open the app or keyboard. Respond to any intended paste permission prompt.
  2. Check both devices. They need the same account, completed linking, and an internet connection. Check their last sent and received times in the devices list.
  3. Open the destination. If your phone is receiving, open Pastefrog to reconnect. Do not assume a notification means the clip downloaded in the background.
  4. Try text first. If a note works but an image or file does not, check the receiving app and the 25 MB per-image or per-file limit on Free and Sync.

For support, include the iOS or iPadOS version, both app versions, and whether you used the app, keyboard, or share sheet. Keep clip contents, passwords, recovery keys, and linking codes out of the request.

Replace your phone without losing access

Link the replacement using another linked device. With a computer, the new phone scans the code on the computer. If no linked device is available, use an email code and your recovery key.

Pro restores retained history. Free and Sync restore the current clip. Unlink a lost iPhone or iPad from another device so it cannot receive new clips. Do this through Pastefrog’s linked devices controls.

Your account sign-in and recovery key do different jobs. The email code confirms your account; the key lets a new device read encrypted clips. Losing every linked device and the key means those clips cannot be recovered.

Pastefrog saves passwords and codes exactly as copied. Only link devices you control, and read the recovery guide before wiping your last linked device.
