Install and link your Android device
Install Pastefrog from Google Play using the download page. Open it and sign in with Google or an email code. Every plan requires an account. Save the recovery key shown after your first sign-in.
When you link with a computer, your phone scans the QR code on that computer. This is also the direction when you started on the computer first: the computer shows the code and the phone scans it.
Follow the app’s linking and permission prompts. If no linked device is available, use the email-code and recovery-key fallback. Pastefrog saves and syncs nothing until sign-in and linking are complete.

Copy with the app or default keyboard
Android limits clipboard reading to the default keyboard or the app on screen. If Pastefrog is closed and another keyboard is active, Pastefrog may not be able to read your new copy.
- Copy a short note or link in the source app.
- If you use another keyboard, open Pastefrog after copying. If Pastefrog is your default keyboard, use that keyboard’s clipboard workflow.
- Keep both linked devices online, then paste the note on the receiving device.
The Pastefrog keyboard is optional. Follow the setup instructions in the app if you want to make it your default. You can keep your existing keyboard and use the foreground app or the explicit actions below.
Send content without changing keyboards
You can give content to Pastefrog with an explicit action instead of relying on background clipboard access.
- Share target. Open the source app’s Share action and choose Pastefrog. Check what that app is sharing, because it can differ from its Copy command.
- Selected text. Use the Pastefrog action offered for selected text when it is available.
- Quick Settings tile. Follow Pastefrog’s instructions to add its tile, then use the tile to send the current clipboard.
These are actions you choose for the current content. They do not give a closed app unrestricted access to every future copy. If you are checking your setup, try one short note through the foreground app first.
Paste a clip from another device
Open Pastefrog on Android to reconnect and inspect the received clip. Select it, use Copy, and return to a field in the destination app to paste it.
If the clip is visible in Pastefrog but the destination refuses it, test a text note in a text field. Images and files need an app that accepts those content types. Free and Sync allow each image and each file up to 25 MB.
Check the other device’s workflow too. The Mac, Windows, and Linux guides cover computer capture, permissions, and direct pasting.

Search history and pin a useful clip
Free keeps the latest clip across 2 devices. Sync costs $10 once and allows 5 devices with the same latest-only behavior. Each new copy replaces the previous current clip. Reconnecting devices get the current clip without intermediate copies.
Pro costs $1.99 a month and includes 25 GB of encrypted history across 10 devices while active. Search using a word from an earlier copy, open the matching clip, and copy it to reuse it. Search and image text recognition run on your device.
Open a saved clip’s actions and choose Pin to keep it in the Pinned view. Pro also includes snippets for reusable text. Pins and snippets belong to paid history, so export what you need before Pro ends.
A reconnecting Pro device receives every missed clip in history. The latest clip stays separate. Read the history guide for more on offline copies and restoring history.

- Check clipboard access. If another keyboard is active, open Pastefrog after copying or use an explicit share, selected-text, or tile action.
- Try one note. Follow the app’s permission prompts and test a fresh short text copy.
- Check the connection. Both devices must be linked to the same account and online. Check the last sent and received times in the devices list.
- Inspect the destination. If it is Android, open Pastefrog to reconnect. If the clip is visible, check the receiving app and content type before changing your linking setup.
For support, include your Android version, both app versions, active keyboard, and whether you used the app, share target, selected-text action, or tile. Do not send clip contents, passwords, linking codes, or your recovery key.
Recover on a replacement Android device
Use another linked device to link the replacement. With a computer, the new phone scans its QR code. If none of your linked devices is available, use an email code and the recovery key you saved after first sign-in.
Pro restores retained history. Free and Sync restore the current clip. Unlink a lost phone from another linked device to stop it receiving new copies.
Keep the recovery key outside a single device. If you lose every linked device and the key, your encrypted clips cannot be recovered. An email code signs you in but cannot decrypt those clips by itself.
Pastefrog’s servers cannot read your clips. Passwords and codes are kept exactly as copied, so only link devices you control. Read the recovery guide before wiping your last linked device.
